Public transport for ANZAC Day 2024

Public transport services will operate to a public holiday timetable on ANZAC Day, Thursday 25 April 2024.

Services will mostly run to a Saturday timetable with some alterations and extra services running for the ANZAC Day Shrine Dawn Service. Passengers are advised to allow additional time to get to the Shrine of Remembrance.

During public holidays, your daily myki fare is capped at $7.20 ($3.60 for concessions and seniors). You can enjoy all-day unlimited travel.

While some concession holders may benefit from free travel on weekends, please note this entitlement does not extend to public holiday weekend timetables. During public holidays, normal myki fare caps apply.

Trains will operate to a Saturday timetable with additional services running for ANZAC Day Dawn service.

Tram icon Metropolitan tram

Trams will operate to a Saturday frequency, with the last tram one hour earlier than the usual Saturday timetable.

Extra trams will operate for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service. Service changes will also affect trams during the ANZAC Day Parade. Find out more about service changes during the ANZAC Day Dawn Service and ANZAC Day Parade.

Night Network will not run.

Most services will run to a Saturday timetable.

Bus Routes 503 and 506 will not run.

The following regional services will run on ANZAC Day to various timetables. All other regional bus services will not run.

  • Inverloch-Wonthaggi-Traralgon (weekend timetable)
  • Coronet Bay Corinella Grantville (Sunday timetable)
  • Wonthaggi – Traralgon/Inverloch & Cowes to Wonthaggi via Anderson & Ventnor (weekend timetable)
  • Warragul Town Service and Garfield to Traralgon (Saturday timetable)
  • Yarram – Traralgon (Sunday timetable)
  • Paynesville – Bairnsdale (Saturday timetable)
  • Loch Sport (M-F timetable)
  • Mallacoota – Genoa (M-Th-F timetable)
  • La Trobe Valley Transit service (Saturday timetable) – No routes 6 & 7
  • Kilmore Town Service (Saturday timetable)
  • Wallan Town Service (Saturday timetable)
  • (Christians) Bendigo Transit Service (Saturday timetable) – No route 63 and 64
  • Mildura Transit Service (Sunday timetable)
  • Heathcote – Bendigo (Saturday timetable)
  • Strathfieldsaye – Bendigo Route (Saturday timetable)
  • (McHarry’s) Geelong & Bellarine Transit (Saturday timetable) – No route 40
  • (CDC) Geelong Transit Service (Saturday timetable)
  • Warrnambool Town (Saturday timetable)
  • Portland Town School Service (Saturday timetable)
  • (CDC) Ballarat Transit Service (Saturday timetable)
  • (Christians) Bacchus Marsh Town School Service (Saturday timetable)

Night Network will not run.

V/Line trains will run to a Saturday timetable with the following alterations.

The Overland – Melbourne – Adelaide
  • The Overland service from Adelaide to Melbourne will not operate.

Night Network will not run.

V/Line coaches will run to a Saturday timetable with the following alterations.

Bairnsdale – Canberra
  • Coach service – 11.25am from Bairnsdale to Canberra will depart at 11.55am.
Melbourne - Mildura
  • Coach service – 9.10pm from Melbourne to Mildura will operate.
  • Coach service – 10.05pm from Mildura to Melbourne will operate.
Mallacoota
  • Coach service – 3.15pm from Genoa to Mallacoota will depart at 3.45pm.

All night coaches are cancelled and will not run.
